About Us

The SIOUX CITY FUTURES program is a non-profit organization designed to provide dedicated young players in the Siouxland area an opportunity to play competitive softball and baseball.  It is the goal of the program to produce not only quality athletes but also good citizens by instilling the principles of sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, work ethic and respect for authority.

Our Story

The Sioux City Futures started as a single team in 2012, founded by Robin Chute, to provide his sons with the opportunity to play baseball with other kids who shared their passion for the game. However, in 2013, the team expanded into a program when Chute came up with the idea to collaborate with other teams and share resources. Since then, the program has grown to include over 20 teams and has represented more than 35 different communities. The teams within the program support and assist each other both on and off the field.

Robin Chute and his wife, Stephanie, have a shared passion for creating something bigger than themselves, and they take pride in the growth and success of their program. Through the Futures, they have had the opportunity to meet many new people and witness the camaraderie within the teams and the program as a whole. Everyone involved in the program, including coaches, parents, and siblings, dedicates a significant amount of time and effort for the benefit of the kids. While they understand that not everything will always go perfectly, they believe that everyone is doing their best with the time they have available. Baseball has always been a passion in Chute's life, and being able to give back to the community through the Futures program, not only in baseball but also in softball, is extremely rewarding for him.

Chute, the president of the program, has an impressive baseball background. He played high school baseball at South Tama High School in Iowa and was recognized as a three-time All-State Selection. He went on to play college baseball at Kirkwood Community College, the University of South Dakota, and Briar Cliff University. In college, Chute earned three All-Conference selections and was named team MVP twice. He also had the opportunity to play with the Sioux City Explorers for a month and spent 15 seasons playing amateur baseball with the Vermillion Red Sox. As a coach, he served as a graduate assistant at Briar Cliff University. In 2017, Chute's Sioux City Futures team won the state championship in the Majors Division.
